John's Cardmatic Page !
This page is dedicated to bringing to light the vast variety of
Cardmatic Tube Testers and Accessories that were produced by the Hickok Electrical Instrument Co.
Cardmatic 123, I believe this model to have been the first version of the Cardmatic sold.
Cardmatic 123A, an updated version of the 123 which included a "Life Test" circuit that the 123 did not.
Cardmatic 123B, The 123B may have been an early version of the 1234. I have noticed Dual-Triod cards marked for use with the 123B tester can be used in the 1234 version of testers. most of my 123B cards came from an old Western Electric tester.
Military 123A, is a better built version of the civilian 123A. The Military 123A had a filter choke installed in the power supply, a special "load resistor" board on the inside bottom of the tester which also includes an extended "Card Deck" for testing the load resistors and the case was made large enough to hold both the tester and complete card deck.
Cardmatic 123R, has a user removable tube test socket assy. the 123R was most like the 123A civilian version.
Cardmatic 1230, I have Hickok documents that make reference to this model, though I have never seen this model.
Hickok Cardmatic 1234
In my opinion the 1234 Cardmatic was the begining of the best Cardmatic tube testers ever made. This version of the Cardmatic allowed for testing both sections of dual triode tubes with one tube test punch card. this was only possible when both triodes had the same characteristics .

Hickok Cardmatic USM-118A/B ( later Military version )
When properly cared for the USM-118A/B Cardmatic tube tester is the most reliable of all the Cardmatics.

Western Electric Cardmatic KS-15874 L1/L2
The Western Electric Cardmatic KS-15874 L1/L2 is most like the Hickok 1234 and of course the Tube Test punch cards are interchangeable with the 1234 and USM-118A/B testers. the neat thing about the Western Electric tester is the case of Western Electric Tube Test cards used to test Western Electric tubes.
