NETWORK DESIGN/IMPLEMENTATION:

Coordinated installation of new wiring closets (category 5 cabling) and associated data/voice outlets (DVOs). Maintained area maps showing outlet locations for each closet. Jumpered closet connections so that each DVO had a "straight-through" connection to telephone switch room as well as a LAN connection. Also, previously coordinated installation of over 2000 3270-compatible windowing CRTs and printers at 60 different locations in Indiana. Designed network layouts utilizing communication controllers in large sites and protocol converters/asynchronous devices at small remote locations. Wrote business cases and purchase orders for equipment procurement. Coordinated connections to multiple systems and provided network definition information for IMS and CICS applications. Scheduled installations, training, and cutovers. Provided similar project coordination for installation of statewide intranet connecting twelve remote LAN sites via T-1 circuits. Cisco routers running TCP/IP provided the connectivity.

ADMINISTRATION:

Provided Admin/Support for Nortel Meridian 1, Option 81C PBX. Managed all moves/adds/changes for system supporting over 2000 stations, 4000 DIDs, with T-1 trunk connections for local, long distance, and a private government network. Also, previously Administered Lotus cc:Mail network with Hub/Spoke arrangement supporting 40 Post Offices, over 1700 local users and 700 remote users. Managed X.400 and SMTP Gateways. Scheduled off hours Post Office maintenance and mailbox clean-up. Maintained records on Post Office membership, size, maintenance schedules, etc.

SUPPORT:

Provided telephone system support for over 200 stations. Coordinated cutover to new local dialtone provider (twice). Also, previously provided desktop support for various Lotus E-Mail products (cc:Mail for Windows, DOS, Macintosh, and Sun workstations) and Lotus Organizer calendaring application. Worked with end users to resolve problems communicating with external business partners (e.g., MIME vs. UUencode/decode attachment processing). Provided Novell Netware (3.11) support for network with 6 servers and over 100 workstations (Windows 3.1 and NT 4.0).

TROUBLESHOOTING:

Responsible for troubleshooting telephone switch and voice mail problems. Served as liaison between help desk and vendors for problem resolution. Previously provided Tier 2 support for Lotus cc:Mail and Lotus Organizer. Resolved problems between dissimilar mail systems. Utilized protocol analyzers and sniffers to investigate and resolve response time complaints and/or persistent network problems.
