"Back to work guys!"

In the spring, we were very fortunate to have Dominic Gehring, his family, and the Boy Scouts of troop 555 here to help us by building a screech owl enclosure.

Beside “Shadow”, our permanently injured, non-releasable, education screech owl, we receive many injured and orphaned screech owls annually, and now they can recuperate under the best possible conditions!

The 8’x8’x10’ structure has slatted wood sides for privacy, to let in light, and to prevent feather damage.  There is a shelter box and a number of perches, and branches of several diameters.  It also has an exterior “safety door” to prevent any premature releases.

Not only is this project useful, it is also an attractive addition to our property.  Our happy screech owls say it all—Whoo, Nice Place!!  Great Job Dominic!
