CEE Line (Chicago, Emporia & Evansville) N scale RR |

With General Offices located in Emporia, a suburb of Markleville, the CEE Line serves the entire length of the State of Indiana from Chicago to Evansville through Emporia. Starting in Chicago the CEE Line runs on Conrail trackage through Hammond, Crown Point and North Judson to Logansport. Out of Logansport through Kokomo, Elwood and Frankton to Henderson the RR runs on old Pennsylvania track purchased from Penn Central. Southward out of Henderson, the CEE uses trackage rights on ex-CCC&StL/NYC lines through Emporia, Knightstown, Rushville and Greensburg to Westport where it picks up the old Milwaukee track to head west through Seymour to Bedford. From Bedford to Elnora it utilitizes SOO Line track. Now heading South from Elnora through Washington and Oakland City to Evansville.
The rolling stock of the CEE Line is all used equipment that has been refurbished by the railroad itself. They have a very resourceful maintenance crew that can repair or fabricate almost anything. The CEO, Larry E. Gilbert, relies on his employees to take care of the day to day operations while he works on keeping the customers happy and trying to secure new business. It is not the most profitable railroad but is doing well enough to keep improving all of its rolling stock. The railroad owns very little trackage so its maintenance costs mainly come from rolling stock upkeep. Larry says he likes not owning too much trackage thus freeing his employees for other important operations of the CEE Line. South of Emporia, The Victoria Junction tower still watches over the abandoned double crossing of the Pennsylvania RR that The Penn-Central RR tore out.
