The idea of writing a Masek history came after a family reunion in Lincoln, NE., July 1996. Sharon Masek Lopez, as a public school student some years previous, had developed a history of Thomas and Barbara Masek and focused somewhat on their offspring. Sherry made this presentation at the reunion. Fred Masek wrote and presented a report on the "Migration of the Maseks." Dick Masek located a historical document in Chicago related to the Masek name. Fred developed a "horizontal" family tree which Dick produced in final form with his computer. (Sharon Masek Lopez is Fred's niece.)
From that point the project was gradually expanded. Dick Masek originated and wrote stories about his early life. Brother Brian provided information on car troubles and careers. Fred has been responsible for other chapters that were written during spare moments in 1996 and 1997. Dick agreed to accept the enormous task of using his computer to produce the history in its final bound form.
Now, you are being introduced to the most precise report, available at this moment, covering the joys, ambitions, fortunes, misfortunes, and funny experiences of one Midwest family.
