First, a couple of disclaimers:
The Pennington Research Association tracks thirty Pennington "Groups" connecting to specific ancestors or locations. The progenitor of Group 8 is Abraham Pennington who migrated from Cecil County, Maryland to northern Virginia, and later to Berkeley County, South Carolina where he died in 1756, leaving a will. His is one of the larger Pennington lineages in the United States with major concentrations of descendants in several states including Tennessee, Kentucky, Arkansas, and Texas. Present day North Carolina is not a location for this group although they resided in areas of South Carolina and Tennessee that briefly fell within the early boundaries of that state. Group 8 is often referred to as "Abraham, Isaac & Jacob" due to the frequent occurrence of these names in this line.
