Meetings/Activities:

The Railfans of Indianapolis (RFI) was founded in 1937 as the Indianapolis Railfans Club and is one of the oldest rail enthusiast organizations in the country. RFI meets on the second Saturday of each month (with an occasional exception) at 7:30 p.m. on the south side of Indianapolis. The meetings are held at St. Andrews United Methodist Church at 2560 S. Villa Ave. Meetings last 2 to 3 hours and feature a slide or video program usually lasting 1 to 2 hours.

Member interests vary from contemporary railroad photography to the history of interurbans, so you're bound to meet someone with interests similar to your own. RFI plans group outings from time-to-time, most notably the "Annual Last Ride on the South Shore" which is held in late June and features a train ride to Chicago for a day of train watching.
