Spent last Sunday installing the console.  It looks to me that the DIN mount on the new Pioneer will hold just fine, although I did get a little sloppy cutting the opening in the new panel.  Overall, the effect is pretty much what I wanted.

Now to get the door finished, mount the rear deck speakers, and I'm ready to drive -- until it's time to replace that pesky front main seal.
